Dan's PIZZA ART SERIES, opening Sat May 9 in Red Hook Brooklyn

Hello Friends,

I would like to invite you to Red Hook, Brooklyn beginning this Saturday at 1PM for the opening of a 5 week art gallery exhibit titled, "The Color of Hope" by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist's Coalition (BWAC - http://bwac.org). This is Brooklyn's largest art gallery. Free admission & complimentary hor d'oeuvres and cocktails to be served.

The show runs from Saturday May 9 - Sunday June 14 (weekends only) from 1PM - 6PM. There will be live music and entertainment on the 2nd floor and a silent art auction that concludes about 4PM with a final roll call on June 14.

I hope you are a pizza lover because when you walk through the 1st floor doors, I have a featured wall to the the right of the entrance themed, "The Art Of Pizza"! 9 pieces are on display that will tell you a story of how a perfect pizza pie is hand made, cooked and finally devoured. OK now I am hungry!

This gallery is located in an old warehouse down by the Red Hook Pier. This is an interesting space and an equally interesting area due to the amazing views from Red Hook's many piers. Look right and observe a very close-up view of the Statue of Liberty along with lower Manhattan. Look Left and see the Verrazano Bridge). Right outside the gallery sit 3 old trolley cars - these are the remains of what was left from attempts to put the trolley cars back on the streets a few years back.

I hope to see you there. The address is:

499 Van Brunt Street
Brooklyn, NY 11231
(all the way down to the Pier, Fairway's market on the right hand side)

Quick Note: 2 Art Gallery Openings This Week In Brooklyn

Hello everyone,

This week will help me check off one of my photography goals for 2008 which was to get accepted and display artwork in 4-6 galleries / exhibits. I have already had 2 summer shows, and I am now about to open at Gallery 364 (show theme - "Reality vs. Fantasy") in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn on Thursday night, September 11 and BWAC (show theme - "Free Fall") in Red Hook on Saturday, September 13.

Each gallery is unique. In Bay Ridge, we are talking about a private Limestone row house - the entire first floor is a devoted gallery - a very interesting place given that the building is artwork itself and built during the turn of the century! In Red Hook, BWAC has a 2 floor gallery in an old stone warehouse with a very traditional feel in a truly unqiue space.

BWAC Art Galley - Summer Hot! Comes to a Close

Good afternoon friends,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend; especially in New York where the weather was beautiful. Hopefully we see more days like those for a while before the Summer quickly turns into Fall.

The BWAC Summer art gallery show "Hot!" came to a close this weekend and I am happy to say I sold at least 2 pieces with the possibility of a couple of more. Here are the 2 images I was please to see purchased for the enjoyment of 2 customers:

Both of these images have done well the past year, particularly the cyclone sign which is now sold for the 5th time!

I wish everyone a great end to Summer 2008. Stay tuned for my next entry discussing my acceptance to the BWAC "Free Fall" show. Same place - gallery in Red Hook (499 Van Brunt Street), same time - Saturdays and Sunday from 1-6PM, and hopefully the same panels. If not, I will let you know the exact locations.

In addition, I have been accepted to submit a large piece (over 30') to the TimeOut NY sponsored first floor gallery of BWAC so stay tuned on my approved selection.

More details to follow, including the show opening - I am told this is the biggest BWAC show of the year, so I am excited to start the process. I may be posting my displayed images in advance on the blog to ask for some feedback from you - my loyal subscribers! If I am allocated 2 panels (which should be 6 pieces), I may ask you to help me decide the last one.

Have a great week,

Dan

Art Gallery Opening Tomorrow 7/26 at 1PM

Hello All,

Just a reminder that my work will be appearing at the Pier in and old converted stone warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn at the gallery opening of 'Hot', sponosred by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC). I will have three 24x20 fine art pieces mounted on a 8' x 8' panel. There is the potential that I will have an additional 3 pieces up so on my arrival it is also a mystery. Additionally, I will have 3 pieces as part of BWAC's silent auction.

All in all, I hope this is a great show and the experience is telling. Only time will tell now...

The show runs from July 26 - August 17, weekends only from 1PM - 6PM. There will be live bands playing and a stationed wet bar.

Check out http://www.danmarinophoto.com/ (Click on Displayed Art) for more details. I will post the images I have on display at the show soon.

Have a great weekend!

- Dan

Quick Update: Red Hook Art Gallery Opening July 26

Hello friends,

Just sending a quick update here...more details to follow.

I have now officially hung my art on my alotted 8' x 8' panel and ready for the gallery opening in Red Hook. The show curator recommended 3 of my images for display; with the potential for an additional 3 to be hung prior to the opening.
The space (an old warhouse) is very urban in nature with stone walls, wood beams running through and large metal shutters surrounding each window. In fact, one of my fine art prints on display is a creative image of the warehouse!

I hope you have the opportunity to stop by as this is my first gallery showcase. The show titled, "Hot!" will run from July 26 - August 17 on Saturdays and Sundays from 1PM - 6PM. For more information, please visit http://www.bwac.org/ directly or go through my website - http://www.danmarinophoto.com/.

I am currently setting up my online presence on BWAC's website, as well as contributing prints to their flat file collection. At the show, you can view my flat file prints on their large screen, and then request to see the actual print.

Hope you are all having a very enjoyable summer. Stay tuned for my next post...
